Children’s Ministry

At Grace, we partner with parents as they disciple their children, coming alongside each family to encourage and equip them in teaching biblical truth. Together, we seek to lay a strong spiritual foundation during a child’s most formative years, strengthening not only individual households but the entire church body.

In our Children’s Ministry, we teach God’s Word in age-appropriate ways that shape a child’s understanding of truth, identity, and purpose, with the prayerful hope that each child will grow to know, love, trust, and follow Jesus. Rather than viewing children as merely the future of the church, we recognize them as a valued and vital part of the church today.

The safety of our children is a high priority. Every Children’s Ministry staff member and volunteer is trained in our child protection policies and has passed a background check. Our check-in system and monitored entry points provide an added layer of care so children can learn and grow in a safe environment.

  • We seek to provide a safe and nurturing environment where children and parents experience the love of God through the care they receive, inspiring a deeper desire to know Him and serve His church. In nursery, we provide age-appropriate organized play with a story time and snack.

Nursery is available for infants through pre-kindergarten aged children.

    Nursery Hours on Sundays:

    • 8:15-9:40am during the first Worship Service

    • 9:50-10:35am during Sunday School

    • 10:45am-12:10pm during the second Worship Service

    Nursery Check-In Policy

The parent/guardian is responsible for ensuring that their child is not left alone in an unsupervised area. When a child is dropped off at their designated classroom for Nursery, the sign-in sheet should be thoroughly filled out and a sticker with the name of the child placed on the child’s back. Pick-up of children shall only be by the parent/guardian unless clear notification is provided for other arrangements on the check-in sheet. Additionally, we ask that you take your children to the restroom prior to dropping them off in the nursery.

  • We believe children can learn deep truths about God at a young age. Sunday School is filled with lessons and stories about the great God we serve, preparing our children to know and understand true, saving faith. We strive to teach in-depth biblical truths in a child-friendly manner.

Children’s Sunday School meets at 9:50-10:35am, at the same time as all Sunday School classes.

    Classes:

    • Kindergarten - 2nd grade

    • 3rd - 5th grade

  • Children’s Church is intended to be a time of training and growth for our children as they prepare to become fellow participants in worship. In Children’s Church, we teach children the elements of worship, the character of God, and the authority of Scripture. They learn prayers, creeds, songs, and the Westminster Shorter Catechism for Kids. These topics are taught using games, crafts, coloring pages, music, and movement. Children start by worshipping with their families in the sanctuary and are then dismissed right after the third song and before the Confession of Faith.

Children’s Church is available for 4 and 5 year old children.

Children’s Church meets on the first four Sundays of each month. On the occasional fifth Sunday of the month, children stay with their families for the entire worship service. We encourage parents on these fifth Sundays to practice with their children what they have been learning during Children’s Church.

  • Children are encouraged to sit with their families during the worship service - what better way to display active faith than to have children see their parent(s)/guardian(s) worship God through song, prayer, and Scripture reading. If children are in worship with you, feel free to quietly explain what is happening during the service to them.

If your child becomes too much of a distraction during worship, feel free to take them into the Fellowship Hall (below the Sanctuary) or the nursing mother’s room (in the Youth Sunday School room) where the service is live-streamed.

  • Please be aware of our Wellness Policy. You have a role to play in keeping our Children’s Ministry a healthy place to bring your child. If your child is not well, please refrain from bringing him/her to the nursery.

Please do not bring your child to Nursery or Children’s Church if they have one of the following:

    • Fever over 99.6 degrees currently or for the last 24 hours

    • Vomiting or diarrhea currently or for the last 24 hours

    • Started the use of antibiotics for a contagious illness within the past 24 hours

    • Heavy nasal discharge, coughing, sneezing, or sore throat

    • Skin infections (impetigo, boils, ringworm)

    • Eye infections
